Nani to play three avatars in 'Jersey'

Nani’s upcoming film Jersey will offer him fodder to bring out the best of his acting skills. The star is known for taking up performance oriented roles and Jersey will be one among it. According to sources in the know, Jersey will have Nani appearing in three different avatars. Yes, he will be seen as a youngster, a matured guy and an aged man. He will be portraying all of it Jersey and it is not an easy task.

Jersey, a sports film, is all about a cricketer. The film is being directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Malli Raava fame. Sharing the screen space with Nani is debutant Reba Monica John, a cousin of actor Anu Emmanuel.

The first look poster of Jersey, which was unveiled a few weeks ago, gave a clear indication that it is a film about cricket. A jersey hanging in a cupboard along with the cricket gear around it did go viral among netizens.

Nani had earlier expressed his desire to star in a sports based film on the lines of Aamir Khan starrer Dangal and looks like his wish has come true with Jersey. Nani will undergo a special training in cricket to get the nuances of the role he will be playing in the film.

Jersey is bankrolled by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainments. On the film, its director Gowtam Tinnanuri told in an interview to the FirstPost earlier, “It’s a story about a late bloomer who realizes his talent at a certain age and pursues his dream to join the Indian cricket team. It’s a period sports drama and the story takes place between 1986 and 1996. As a subject, I want this story to reach as many people as possible. With his universal appeal, Nani can take this story far and wide. I also really like him as an actor.”
