Star kid Kalidas Jayaram’s debut as hero in the Malayalam film industry was with Poomaram, which hit the silver screens on March 15 amidst a lot of expectations.

The film’s release was postponed on multiple occasions and finally it made it to the theatres and opened to positive reviews. Directed by Abride Shine, Poomaram was bankrolled by him and Paul Varghese under the banner Dr. Paul's Entertainment.

Happy over the positive response that his debut film has received, Kalidas has said in an interview to Manoramaonline, “It's been a great journey. Poomaram is the result of a team's hard work and perseverance of over a year. Poomaram is the heart and soul of us all. It is receiving a great response from Kerala audience. The movie released all over the nation on Friday. I'm looking forward to hearing all responses.”

On the reaction of his star parents – Jayaram and Parvathy – on watching Poomaram, the young actor said, “My parents weren't sure whether I'd gel into the character because they know that I'm alien to Kalolsavams. Interestingly, both of them have got a lot of Kalolsavam memories. They have been parts of Kalolsavam during their college days. They tried to explain the aspects of Kalolsavam. But after watching the movie, both of them got lost in the memories of their own college lives. My sister couldn't watch the movie yet as she's pursuing her higher studies abroad."

With Poomaram’s release, Kalidas is excited about his next film in the pipeline. The actor has been signed up by director Alphonse Putheran to play the role in his Tamil directorial, which has not been titled yet. It may be mentioned here that this project is the next directorial from Alphonse Putheran after the massive success of Premam
