Mohanlal’s upcoming film Velipadinte Pusthakam is most likely to hit the silver screens on August 31. Reports say that the team is looking forward to release it as an Onam treat for movie buffs but nothing has been confirmed till now.

The film is currently in the post production mode and the exact release date is expected to be announced in a week’s time.

Directed by Lal Jose, Velipadinte Pusthakam has Mohanlal playing the role Prof. Michael Idicula. Interestingly, he will be seen in three different get-ups in the movie. The star cast of the movie includes Anna Rajan, Siddique, Arun Kurian, Sarath Kumar, Salim Kumar, Priyanka Nair, Anoop Menon, Krishna Kumar, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Alencier Ley Lopez and Adith Venugopal.

Written by Benny P. Nayarambalam, the film is produced by Anthony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas. Shaan Rahman has composed music for Velipadinte Pusthakam with Vishnu Sarma cranking the camera and Ranjan Abraham editing it.

The film, touted to be a campus comedy, is about Vice Principal Michael Idicula nick-named as Dracula by the students and his unconventional teaching methods. The shooting of the film began at the St. Xavier's College, Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram in May this year. The team was stationed at the college for about forty days to complete the shooting.

Prior to the shooting, the Velipadinte Pusthakam unit had planted trees at the college campus. On the film’s release, Mohanlal had posted on a social networking site, “It’s a wrap for #VelipadintePusthakam and you can welcome #Onam with this book.”
