Mohanlal’s 'Villain' takes record opening

Mohanlal starrer Villain took a historical opening on October 27 with its first-day box office collection standing at Rs. 4.91 crores.

Incidentally, the first-day collection of the Mammootty starrer The Great Father was Rs. 4.25 crores and the Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan was Rs. 4.08 crores. This makes Villain top the list right now.

According to reports from the Kerala box office, the film had collected Rs. 4.91 crores on day one and Rs. 2.81 crores the next.

The Kochi Multiplex Box Office Collection was Rs. 11.16 lakhs on day one, Rs. 10.32 lakhs on day two and Rs. 10.04 lakhs on day three. Villain is a crime thriller that has Mohanlal playing an ex-cop. Vishal, Hansika Motwani and Raashi Khanna have made their Mollywood debut with this film.

Directed by B. Unnikrishnan, Villain is produced by Rockline Entertainments under the banner Rockline Entertainments Pvt Ltd. Sushin Shyam has composed the film’s background score while the original soundtrack has been done by the music group 4 Musics comprising Jim Jacob, Biby Matthew, Eldhose Alias, and Justin James.

Manoj Paramahamsa and N. K. Ekambaram have worked as the cinematographers for this film with Shameer Mohammed editing it. With Villain setting a new record at the Kerala box office, Mohanlal’s success streak continues. Mohanlal is currently busy with Odiyan, directed by VA Shrikumar Menon and is gearing up to play Bhim in Mahabharata, touted to be India’s costliest film ever to be made.
