Written by : Digital Native

There have been enough speculations about the release date of the Mohanlal starrer Odiyan. The film’s shooting was wrapped up some time ago and it is currently in the post-production mode. It was confirmed a few weeks ago that Odiyan would hit the silver screens in October and now the exact date has been revealed by the film’s stunt coordinator Peter Hein.

In a tweet, Peter revealed that Odiyan will hit the marquee on October 11 this year.

What makes the film one of the most expected in Mollywood this year is that it will have Mohanlal appearing in three different avatars and the fact that he has shed several kilos to play the younger version of his role. According to trade sources, the Hindi dubbing and satellite rights of Odiyan have been sold for a whopping Rs 3.25 crore, which is the highest for any Malayalam movie till date. The dubbing rights alone fetched its makers Rs 2.35 crore, say sources.

The film has a bevy of talented stars in the cast including Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj, Siddique, Innocent, Narain, Kailash, Sana Althaf, Manoj Joshi and Appani Sarath.

Odiyan, with screenplay by K Hari Krishnan, has a strong technical crew with M Jayachandran composing the tunes for the soundtrack and Sam CS composing the background score. Shaji Kumar has cranked the camera for this venture with John Kutty taking charge of the editing.

Acclaimed ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon makes his debut as director in the film industry with Odiyan. It may be mentioned here that he has been roped in to direct Mohanlal’s Randamoozham as well. Touted to be the costliest films ever to be made in the history of Indian cinema, it will be produced by BR Shetty on a budget of Rs 1,000 crore. Randamoozham will go on the floors in July next year.
