Maverick film director Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam went on to the floors early this year and the shooting has been wrapped up recently. The film is in the post-production mode with the makers yet to zero in on a proper release date.

It is a multi starrer that features stars such as Vijay Sethupathi. Aravind Samy, Simbu, Praksash Raj, Jyothika, and Aishwarya Rajesh in pivotal roles. Dayana Erapa, a well-known model, will be making her debut with this flick.

Upbeat over it, the actor has shared her experience of working in a film in an interview to the Deccan Chronicle thus, “I literally had butterflies in my stomach and was scared! I even forgot my lines (smiles) and totally went blank. Only after a few scenes, I slowly got the hang of it. The film gave me a great insight about how different films are from modeling.”

On her role in it, she added, “I play a fun, adventurous and independent girl; that’s how I am in my real life, so I could pull it off. In fact, Mani Ratnam sir asked me to be myself for the part so that it looks natural.” Lauding the director for his vision and clarity of thoughts, Dayana said that she was fortunate to make her debut with this film.

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam has a brilliant technical crew with the Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman scoring the music, Santosh Sivan cranking the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it.

The film is produced jointly by Mani Ratnam, Subaskaran, K Chinna Durai, Kiran, Bejoy Nambiar, Mini Purushot and Siva Ananth under the banners Madras Talkies and Getaway Films. It will be distributed by Lyca Productions. Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’s release date is yet to be announced officially and the makers are expected to do it any time soon.
