Rajinikanth’s Petta’s latest character reveal is that of Trisha. Seen dressed in a traditional red and blue silk saree with flowers and glass bangles, the actor plays Saro, possibly Rajinikanth’s wife during his days in the village.
The poster shows Rajinikanth pushing a swing on which Saro is seated. A vintage teal coloured car in the background gives us a faint idea that this could be a part of the flashback. Trisha looks gorgeous as ever in the poster; last seen playing Janu, an NRI, in Prem Kumar’s romantic film 96 alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha’s all new village avatar in Petta looks interesting.

The film has had two character reveals so far – Vijay Sethupathi as Jithu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Singaar Singh.

While two songs – 'Marana Mass' and 'Ullaallaa' – have been released so far, the film’s audio launch is set to take place on Sunday.
While 'Marana Mass' is a peppy introduction song rendered by Anirudh and SP Balasubramaniam, 'Ullaallaa' is a catchy Baila number, inspired from the football stadium scene in Rajini’s 1981 comedy cult classic Thillu Mullu.
Anirudh, the film’s music director said before the song’s release, “This is Thalaivar Baila – ‘Ullaallaa’. We must’ve enjoyed his naughtiness in the Thillu Mullu football stadium scene. So we thought it would be fun to have such a number in Petta. Hope you guys enjoy 'Ullaallaa'.”
One of the film's earlier poster revealed that actor Simran too would be paired with Rajinikanth, who looks quite different from what is seen in the poster with Trisha.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza fame. The film also stars Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi, Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Malayalam actor Manikandan R Achari and Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.
Petta has been scheduled to release this Pongal. Rajinikanth’s next film is rumoured to be with Sarkar director AR Murugadoss. Rumours are rife that the film could be titled Naarkali. More details on this venture are yet to be confirmed officially.
