The News Minute | February 18, 2015 | 12:55 pm ISTPrime Minister Narendra Modi became a talking point when he met US president Barack Obama earlier this year wearing a striped suit with each stripe made up of his own name spelled out over and over. The suit immediately became an internet sensation with people calling it the Rs 10 lakh suit, based off unconfirmed reports in the media. On Wednesday, reports suggested that Modi would be auctioning the suit off for charity.ANI managed to meet Rameshkumar Bhikabhai Virani, director of the KARP Group who gave the suit to Modi as a "surprise" gift, earlier this year. The suit was gifted to Modi at the recent Vibrant Gujarat Summit by Virani while extending an invitation to his son's wedding. He also added that it was his son who came up with the idea of the monogrammed suit. Virani, however also claimed that the suit's cost was not as much as portrayed in the media. Though he did not reveal the amount, he did add that "My son does not have the guts to spend that kind of money."The suit is already up for auction by the Gujarat government today with bids already crossing a crore. The proceedings are set to go to the Clean Ganga project.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
