Vijay Sethupathi's character in Rajinikanth’s Petta has been revealed. The actor’s character name is Jithu in this film and he’s seen holding on to a smoking gun while his body is wrapped in a shawl.

Rajini’s silhouette is seen in the background that is splashed with an ominous red. Jithu also has bloody wounds on his face and the expression on his face is quite hard to read - is he hiding or has he emerged victorious?

The first single, ‘Marana Mass’, from Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Petta was released on Monday. Just hours before the song’s release, the makers had put out a sneak-peek of it's making, creating a buzz for the song.

The song video, a longer version of the recording, also reveals Rajini’s name in this film - Kaali. A peppy dance number, the song begins with Anirudh’s voice followed by SP Balasubrahmanyam’s. Interestingly, SPB has a very small portion in this song. Also, the film’s theme music that we heard in the motion poster features in ‘Marana Mass’ as well.

In the film’s second-look poster, we saw Rajinikanth clad in a white veshti and shirt, with the actor sporting a rustic look, complete with sacred ash smeared on his forehead. He also has grey eyes and a horseshoe mustache. This look was in stark contrast from his motion-poster where we saw him wearing shades and a scarf.

Another poster that followed saw Simran and Rajinikanth sharing a breezy moment.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza fame. The film also stars Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi, Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Malayalam actor Manikandan R Achari and Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.

More details on the rest of the cast are awaited. Petta is scheduled for Pongal release.
