Right from the time Mammootty’s new project Mamankam was announced, there was enough speculation about who would play the woman lead in it. Well, the suspense has now been broken with an official statement revealing the name.

In a press statement released to IANS, Prachi Tehlan, who made her acting debut with the TV show Diya Aur Baati Hum, has stated, “Yes, I am doing a film with Mammootty sir. It's the biggest Malayalam film ever being made. The shoot has started. I can't reveal much about the film but it's a wonderful experience to be a part of such a big project and my first in south.”

Directed by Sajeev Pillai, Mamankam is a high budget film that is set in a different era. Mamankam is a festival that was held in the 17th century AD. At this fest, warriors from different parts of the Malabar region would come together for a combat at the Bharathapuzha in Tirunavaya. In the movie, Mammootty will be seen playing a valiant warrior.

According to reports, the film will be high on VFX and top notch CG experts will be roped in for it. Kamal Kannan, who had worked with the hit film Baahubali, will be in charge of the CG and he had reportedly said in an interview to The Times of India, “The challenge in the film is to meld the graphics with the original visuals so that the audience cannot distinguish between the two.”

The film’s director Sajeev Pillai, an erstwhile associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has done extensive research on this project. To be made on a budget of Rs. 30 crores, the film is expected to hit the silver screens next year.
