The News Minute | January 21, 2015 | 11.49 am ISTMalini Parthasarathy has been named the Editor of The Hindu with effect from February 1, 2015, replacing its current editor N Ravi. She will be the first woman Editor of the newspaper. An announcement was made on the frontpage of the newspaper on Wednesday, stating that the board of directors of Kasturi and Sons Ltd had unanimously appointed Parthasarathy as the Editor and would be responsible for the selection of news under the Press and Registration of Books of Books Act.The board of KSL also said: "The Board also noted that Dr. Malini Parthasarathy has the rare distinction of being The Hindu’s first woman Editor, and wished her the very best in taking The Hindu to greater heights."Even as it wished Parthasarathy the very best, it "placed on record Mr. Ravi’s contributions to maintaining The Hindu’s pre-eminent position as the most respected English newspaper in India."N Ravi, Wholetime Director would step down from his post as Editor on January 31. For a brief duration of around two-and-half-years, the newspaper appointed Siddharth Varadarajan, the newspaper's Delhi Bureau Chief as the Editor of The Hindu, in an attempt to professionalise the newspaper. That move, however, did not last, as family disputes once again effected yet another management change.
