Written by : TNM

Vikram Vedha, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the title roles, has gone on to become a big hit; thanks to the positive reviews and good word of mouth on its release last month. The film was supposed to hit the marquee in early July but had to be postponed due to the theatre strike that was announced in protest against the 28% GST.

Despite the delay in the release, creating some tense moments for the Vikram Vedha team, Madhavan is happy that the film is doing well at the box office. He has been quoted by the IANS as saying, “Yes, there were a few hurdles in terms of pushing of the release date because of the strike in Chennai by the theatre owners, but all for the best because the film released on July 21 and went on to make history by God’s grace...So, I think all that happens, happens for the best.”

Directed by the director duo Pushkar – Gayathri, the film is about an encounter specialist Vikram played by Maddy and a gangster Vedha played by Vijay Sethupathi. Produced by Sashikanth under the banner Y Not Studios, the film has Shraddha Srinath, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Kathir in crucial roles. Sam CS had scored music for this film with PS Vinod cranking the camera and Richard Kevin editing it. According to trade reports, the film was made on a budget of Rs. 11 crores and had garnered about Rs. 40 crores at the box office.

Fresh out of the success of Vikram Vedha, Maddy has the Bollywood film Chanda Mama Door Ke in his kitty and Vijay Sethupathi has Karuppan, Aneethi Kathaigal, 96 and Seethakathi in his kitty.
