Losliya army is here: Has 'Bigg Boss' Tamil audience found the next Oviya?

Written by : Manasa Rao

Even as the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil, the popular reality TV show is currently underway, Tamil audiences, it appears, have found their muse for the season. The second contestant to enter the Bigg Boss house, Sri Lankan news anchor Losliya Mariyanesan, has won hearts for her non-combative and supportive attitude.

Much like Oviya from the first season of the show, Losliya has garnered an online 'army' of supporters who have been extending their virtual love to her inside the house. Less than two weeks since the show began airing on Vijay TV, multiple social media accounts with thousands of followers have cropped up in support of Losliya.

While Oviya's personality was carefree and assertive in the first season, Losliya has stayed away from serious conflict, choosing instead to mingle with all those in the house. Where Oviya's popularity surged after she dared to tell fellow Tamil actor and contestant Ganja Karuppu to 'shut up' ("Neenga shut up pannunga", to be precise), Losliya has been making waves for her dance moves and expressions. In true Tamil fanboy style, she has already been dubbed an 'angel'. The housemates even dedicated an anthem to her!

However, loyal Oviya fans claim that Losliya can never match up to the swag levels of the former.

Born in Kilinochchi in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, Losliya was raised in Trincomalee. She works as an anchor at Shakthi TV, the island nation's first Tamil television channel. Interestingly, the channel also airs Tamil programmes from Sun TV and Vijay TV. Soon after her entry into the Bigg Boss house, the warm and genial Losliya's old news videos have garnered thousands of views.

In the Bigg Boss house, contestants are woken up by peppy songs each day and Losliya's 'kuthu' moves have captured the imagination of not just the Tamil audiences but the usually envious housemates too.

However, her biggest 'angel' moment came when she crooned the "Kannamma" song from the film Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum. Interestingly, the movie stars actor and playback singer Harish Kalyan who was also a Bigg Boss contestant previously. Harish even tweeted a fan version of the song, edited to feature Losliya, and said that she was winning hearts.
