Keerthy Suresh is in Rajinikanth's 'Thalaivar 168'

Actor Keerthy Suresh, who was last seen in the Vijay – A.R Murugadoss film Sarkar, has landed in a pivotal role in Superstar Rajinikanth's next directed by Siva of Viswasam fame.

Initially, it was reported that Jyotika, Manju Warrier or Keerthy Suresh will be playing the female leads. However, recent reports suggest that actor Meena has been signed, though an official confirmation is yet to come. Prakash Raj is also part of the cast.

Sun Pictures will bankroll the project which is expected to go on the floors on December 12. It is widely speculated that the film will be set in the backdrop of a village with trademark Rajinikanth's elements. D Imman has been signed as the film’s composer and this will be his second collaboration with Siva after Viswasam, which was a chartbuster album.

Also, Siva's standard technicians cinematographer Vetri and editor Ruben have been roped in.

Keerthy has a slew of projects in her kitty, She had recently wrapped up shooting for the multi-lingual film Penguin produced by Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films helmed by Eashvar Karthic. She will also be making her Bollywood debut with Maidaan. She is paired opposite Ajay Devgn in this film which is directed by Amit Sharma. She has also signed on to play a pivotal character in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth currently awaits the release of the A.R Murugadoss film Darbar, which also stars Nayanthara, Suniel Shetty, Pratiek Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu in key roles. The film marks the return of Rajinikanth in the role of a cop after 25 years, since the time he donned khaki in Pandian. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichandran and this will be his second successive film with Rajinikanth after Petta. While Santosh Sivan will crank the camera, the leading stunt director duo – Ram and Lakshman – will choreograph the action sections. A Sreekar Prasad will edit this film which is gearing up for release for Pongal 2020.
