The elder brother of popular Indian film star Kamal Haasan, Chandrahasan, passed away at his daughter’s residence in London on Friday. He was 82 years old and reportedly suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

Chandrahasan is the father of TV show host Anu Haasan, who was popular for her show Coffee with Anu on Vijay TV. He was also the executive producer of Raj Kamal International.

It is reported that earlier in January this year, Chandrahasan’s wife, Geethamani aged 73, had also passed away.

According to industry sources, he was handling all the production work of the Raj Kamal film studio, and was known only through his association with Kamal Haasan, and as a behind-the-scenes operator.

He handled production for films like Vishwaroopam, and even Kamal’s last movie, Thoongavanam.

In February last year, Kamal had shared a rare photo of the ‘Haasan men’, with only his brother Charuhasan missing.
