Written by : Digital Native

Tovino Thomas starrer Kalki Is all set to hit the marquee on August 8th and expectations are on the rise because for the first time in his career the star will be seen in an action hero avatar.

Speaking about accepting the role. Tovino said in an interview to the Times of India, “I was waiting for the right project. I think a dishoom-dishoom hero similar to the ones in a Panchathantra novel or a cartoon is something that people of all age groups could enjoy to an extent. When you watch a film, there are two ways the audience can enjoy a character – if it is similar to their lives or if the character is something they aspire to be. I like doing films of all genres, and I am still at that phase where the film is choosing me and not vice versa. If you take Kalki, it’s not a movie where the hero’s punch makes the goons fly. It is sensible and convincing, but it will have a few gimmicks for that adrenaline rush you want from action movies.”

Tovino Thomas and Samyuktha Menon play the lead pair in Kalki. Interestingly, Samyuktha plays the antagonist in this action entertainer. And Tovino will be seen playing a police officer. It may be noted here that this is not the first time that Tovino would be donning the Kakhi as he has earlier done it for the Prithviraj starrer Ezra, though it was a cameo appearance.

Wielding the megaphone for Kalki is Praveen Prabharam and he has jointly penned the script with Sujin Sujathan. Handling the cinematography for this film is Gautham Sankar and Jakes Bejoy is composing the music. Kalki is bankrolled by Suvin K Krishna and Prasobh Krishna under the banner Little Big Films.
