Kabali will collect over Rs 500 crore and beat Bahubali, says producer

Rajinikanth’s last two outings Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa may have turned out to be duds, but producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is confident that forthcoming superstar-starrer Kabali will rake in over Rs 500 crore at the box-office.

Having already made nearly Rs 200 crore from its pre-release, Kabali’s success will supersede Baahubali, believes Thanu.

In an interview to Firstpost, the Theri producer said, “I expect the movie to make more than Rs 500 crore when it releases. It will be bigger than Baahubali because that is the power and stature of Rajinikanth. He has fans all over the world, across all age groups. But I have still not sold the satellite rights; I'm waiting for the film to release.”

Thanu, who has produced around 30 films in his long career, feels Kabali will be a crowning glory in Rajinikanth’s career.

In the interview, he also revealed that he showed the film to Soundarya (Rajinikanth’s daughter) and she found it to be amazing.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith, Kabali is the story of an ageing don who fights for the Tamil in Malaysia.

It also stars Radhika Apte, Kishore, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa, Dinesh and Winston Chao.
