Kaappaan is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year as it has the Tamil star Suriya and the Malayalam super star Mohanlal in the star cast. Interestingly, this is the first time they are sharing screen space.

With Mohanlal playing a pivotal role in Kaappaan, its Kerala distribution rights have been lapped up by Tomichan Mulakuppadam for a big price. Also, Suriya has a huge fan following in Kerala.

Reports are that Mohanlal plays Arya’s father in the film. On Suriya’s role in Kaappaan, we hear that he will be seen as the bodyguard for Mohanlal and Arya. While Sayyeshaa Saigal plays the female lead, those in the supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, Prem, Cirag Jani, and Mayilsami. The film has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar with the former wielding the megaphone for it. Kaapaan is being bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions.

Harris Jayaraj is the music composer for this film with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer and editing is done by Anthony. It may be mentioned here that MS Prabhu had worked as the cinematographer for the first schedule but he had to opt out for various reasons and be replaced by Abhinandan Ramanujam.

The shooting of this film is currently on and it is expected to hit the marquee in October this year. The filmmakers are yet to reveal the exact date of its release. The film’s shooting began in London last year and will be shot in various places including New York, Brazil, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
