Tollywood star Venkatesh had reprised Madhavan’s role in the Saala Khadoos / Irudhi Suttru Telugu remake Guru and the film went on to fetch rave reviews while also turning out to be a box office hit. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film had Rithika Singh as the female lead.

And now, news has surfaced that he might be reprising Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s role in the remake of Jolly LLB 2. Sources in the Telugu film industry have it that the star has been approached with the offer but there is no official word about his acceptance. If things go as planned, the Jolly LLB 2 Telugu remake may kickstart in December this year. Popular director Trivikram Srinivas may be helming the film as the screenplay writer and director, add sources.

While Jolly LLB, which was directed by Subhash Kapoor, had Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao and Saurabh Shukla in the star cast, its sequel Jolly LLB 2 has Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi as the lead pair with Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor in important roles. Produced by Fox Star Studios, Jolly LLB 2, was released on February 10 this year. The film opened to good reviews which has set off speculations for the launch of its third part.

Incidentally, Jolly LLB, which had Arshad Warsi in the lead role, was remade in Tamil as Manithan. The film, directed by I Ahmed, had Udhayanidhi Stalin reprising Arshad Warsi’s role.

Sources in the tinsel town say that an official announcement about the Jolly LLB 2 remake may be made soon. Meanwhile, Venkatesh is busy with the Telugu flick Adallu Meeku Joharlu, directed by Kishore Tirumala.
