Written by : TNM

Popular yesteryear heroine and politician, Jayaprada is all set to stage a comeback with the fantasy Yaagam, a bilingual made in Tamil and Telugu.

She was last seen in the Tamil magnum opus, Dasavatharam in which she had paired up with Kamal Haasan and her last Telugu flick was the N Balakrishna starrer Sharaba.

On not being seen in the film circuit for nearly a decade, she was quoted by IANS as saying, “People stopped approaching me with offers because they thought I was busy in politics. But the truth is I was on the lookout for good projects all along.”

Speaking about Yaagam and why decided to stage a comeback, Jaya Prada said. “When director Narasimha Rao approached me with the script of 'Yaagam', which I really liked, I saw it as a good opportunity to return to two industries. I'm glad I chose this as my comeback film.”

She went on to add, “It's a very ambitious film. I was convinced with the way the director narrated the story. I don't think I could have made a comeback with a much better film.”

Directed by Narasimha Rao, Yaagam also has Aakash, Mishti Chakraborty and Napoleon in pivotal roles. Speaking about the film, she said, "While the story is about good versus evil, there's a moving sub-plot about a mother and son. I'm sure audiences will like the overall treatment of the film.”

Jayaprada made her acting debut with the Telugu flick Bhoomi Kosam in 1974 and since then has acted in a number of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hind films. During her long career, she has won several prestigious awards and worked with leading directors and actors.
