Despite starring in films of note such as “Temper” and “Nannaku Prematho” in the recent past, Jr NTR had been struggling to deliver a box office hit for a while now. While both films were critically acclaimed and even had a decent run at the ticket window, they failed to set the cash registers on fire.
However, with Janatha Garage, the actor is tasting commercial success again. Despite opening to a mixed response, the film has become a blockbuster.
In just six days since its release, this multi-starrer grossed around Rs 90 crore, making it the second-fastest Telugu film to cross the Rs 50-crore benchmark. Even outside Andhra and Telangana the film is being lapped up for successfully bringing together Mohanlal and Jr NTR, two superstars from different industries, in a single frame.
In the US, the film has already breached the $1.5 million mark and is marching towards $2 million. Based on the initial response, trade pundits had forecast the best-case scenario for “Janatha Garage” as an above average collection. However, the numbers have pleasantly surprised everybody.
