The News Minute | December 21, 2014 | 11:05 am ISTHighlighting the power of social media once again, a simple, heartfelt message on Facebook by an Australian - Jason Maggs, who wrote about the Sydney siege went viral with Australians offering to travel with Muslims concerned for their safety.According to a report in Cairnspost, the 24-year-old former Trinity Bay State High student did not do it to gain attention and definitely didn't know that it would go viral.Jason claimed to have put up the post because of how strongly he felt about what had happened in the Lindt Cafe in Sydney, the city he now calls home.“We grew up in Australia not really thinking that we’re not going to make it to work, or we’re not going to make it home. We’re the lucky country – especially in Cairns.” he was quoted as saying.His boss decided to send staff home from their North Sydney office early on Monday and it was on the train he started noticing people’s demeanours, which prompted the post. But his words, on why terrorism would never work in Australia, obviously struck a chord across the globe with it triggering the hashtag #illridewithyou, where Australians came out in support for each other irrespective of race and religion.Post by Jason Maggs.
