In a span of just six minutes, this powerful short film by Kozhikode’s Vaisakh G Ashok and his crew takes you from being in love with a cute kid called Kikki to being moved to tears by the sexual abuse she suffers at the hands of her uncle.

A short video which conveys the innocent pain and helplessness of child sex abuse victims, Kikki uses a simple yet engaging narrative, and tells the story through small action-figures and dolls which don the role of the various characters of the story. Watch the full short film below.

It is Kikki herself who starts narrating the story of her life – one of an urban child with two working parents who are either busy or angry all the time. The story talks about the watchman who takes care of her, and the grandpa who has been forced to live at an old-age home, away from her. And it is the unsuspecting uncle living with the family who is the abuser – delivering home the point, much like it is in most cases of child abuse in the country, that it is someone who is known to child and close to the family who is often the abuser.

Vaisakh, the director of the movie, is just 24-years old and is an engineering graduate like much of the rest of his team. “The screenplay was written a year ago. But I didn’t have the perfect team to work with. Once the team was set we were able to finish the complete work in 2 months,” says Vaisakh. You can visit their Facebook page here.
