The first look of the Dhanush – Vetrimaaran project, titled Asuran, created ripples in the film industry when it was released recently. The star appears in a very different get-up in the film, which has upped the expectation levels. To be based on a Tamil novel titled Vetkai, the film will be bankrolled by Kalaippuli S Thanu, who had recently bankrolled VIP 2. While not many details about Asuran are available, it was announced on Tuesday that GV Prakash Kumar will compose the music for the film. Earlier there were reports that Yuvan Shankar Raja was also a contender but the makers have now made an official announcement that GV Prakash is the music director.

On the work front, GV Prakash is busy with various commitments. Also an actor, he will have his next film, Sarvam Thaala Mayam, a musical drama that has been written and directed by Rajiv Menon, hitting the marquee on February 1. The film stars GV Prakash and Aparna Balamurali in the lead with Nedumudi Venu, Vineeth, Santha Dhananjayan and Kumaravel in supporting roles. Out of the six songs in the album, four are composed by AR Rahman and one each by Rajiv Menon and Tyagaraja. GV Prakash’s ongoing projects include Jail, 4G, Ayangaran, Kaadhalai Thedi Nithya Nandha, Watchman and Rettai Kombu.

Director Vetrimaaran made his debut with the Dhanush starrer Polladhavan and went on to direct him again in Aadukalam, which fetched six National Awards including Best Director for Vetrimaaran and Best Actor for Dhanush.

Dhanush had produced Vetrimaaran’s Visaranai under his Wunderbar Films banner and it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. The duo’s Vada Chennai, which released last year, was a big hit as well. With a good track record backing them, fans are waiting eagerly for more news on Asuran.
