Gautami keen to do more Telugu films

Written by : TNM

According to sources, veteran actor Gautami is keen on staging a comeback, particularly in Tollywood. The actor made her debut in Dayamayudu way back in 1987 and enjoyed a successful career till she got married in 1998 and decided to stay away from the limelight. She was seen in a few projects between 1998 and 2015.

The 'chikku bukku' girl was famous for carrying off stylish clothes with flair but it wasn't just her sense of fashion that made her popular. Gautami was also a talented performer who worked across industries in a number of films, pulling off versatile roles convincingly. She's acted in romance flicks, thrillers, family drama, and even horror films.

In between, the actor faced some personal and health issues but has since made her way to films once again.

Now as she plans her comeback, the actor is said to be looking for more projects in Tollywood although she has worked in all four South Indian language. This is because Telugu is Gautami's mother tonue and she feels she'll be able to connect to the audience better. Her last work in Tollywood was Manamantha in which she shared screen space with Malayalam star Mohanlal. The film was a bilingual that was released in Malayalam under the title Vismayam.

Gautami is currently busy with two Malayalam films Vishwasapoorvam Mansoor and E and is looking forward to sign more films that kindle her interest. Her last Tamil film was Papanasam which was released in 2015. The film was the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam. Gautami paired up with Kamal Haasan in the movie and it went on to become a huge it.

Gautami, it may be recalled here, was one of the most successful heroines in the late 1980s and early 90s. She has acted with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Murali, Sathyaraj and Prabhu in Tamil films and with Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh in Telugu films. The actor had a very busy acting schedule during her heydays.

Despite being a native of Andhra, Gautami has acted in very few Telugu films when compared to Tamil, something the actor seems keen to change.
