First single from Vijay's 'Mersal' to release

Written by : TNM

Vijay’s Mersal is one of the most anticipated music albums of the year. The film has music by A.R Rahman and is directed by Atlee, who has reunited with Vijay after last year’s smash hit Theri.

The film’s first single – Aalaporan Tamizhan – which is about the significance of Tamilians across the globe, will be released on Wednesday, according to the makers. The announcement was made on Tuesday through an official poster.

In the film, Vijay will appear in three different roles — a panchayat head, a doctor and a magician. The actor’s comic timing will be brought to screen through the magician’s role. The historical portion will see him as the panchayat head, sporting a twirled mustache,  and has been shot in Chennai and Rajasthan. The story is set in the '80s, against a rural backdrop, and Nithya Menen plays Vijay’s love interest in this portion.

It’s for the first time in his career that Vijay will be seen playing triple roles. He will be seen playing a father and two sons. The film, currently in its post-production stage, was also shot across various exotic locations in Europe in a month-long schedule.

Bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Studios, Mersal is tipped to be the most expensive film for the makers. The film also stars actor-filmmaker S.J Suryah as an antagonist, apart from Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in key roles. Mersal is gearing up for a grand release this Diwali.
