The first look and title of Jyotika and Karthi’s upcoming film with director Jeethu Joseph was released on Friday. The two of them will be sharing screen space for the first time together.

Titled Thambi (younger brother), the poster shows one half of Karthi and Jyotika’s facse. There’s also a police car in what appears to be the middle of a foggy road. The poster announces that the film will release in December this year. Thambi will also star Sathyaraj, Malayalam actor Anson Paul, Nikhila Vimal and Ammu Abhirami. There have been reports that the film will also star veteran actor Sowcar Janaki and Master Ashwanth who had stolen the show in Super Deluxe as the character Raasukutty.

The technical crew of this film comprises Govind Vasantha for music and RD Rajasekar for cinematography. The film is jointly bankrolled by Viacom 18 and Parallel Minds Productions.

Director Jeethu Joseph, whose last Tamil outing was the Kamal Haasan starrer Papanasam, is returning to Kollywood with Thambi. Rensil D’Silva and Manikandan will be associating with the director for the scripting work.

Jyotika was last seen in Jackpot alongside Revathy. Directed by Kalyan and produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the film did poorly at the box office. Her new film with debutant director JJ Fredrick has been titled Pon Magal Vandhal and there are also reports that the actor might join hands with Aramm director Gopi Nainar for a new project later. Pon Magal Vandhal will also star K Bhagyaraj, R Parthiban, Pandiarajan and Pratap Pothen in crucial roles.

Karthi was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi that did well at the box office and received praise from the audience. Meanwhile, Karthi is expected to complete shooting for his upcoming film titled Sultan with director Bakkiyaraj Kannan of Remo fame. The film has Rashmika who will be making her Tamil debut with this film. Tipped to be high on action and comedy, it is being bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures.
