Fifth part of Mammootty’s 'CBI' series will be out in Onam

One of the most popular film series in Mammootty’s career – the CBI series – is going to have its fifth part made soon. The film will be penned by SN Swami and directed by veteran K Madhu, the duo behind the first four parts.

According to sources, the director was waiting for Mammootty’s dates to begin the shooting and the star is likely to join the sets very soon. The CBI 5 team is planning to release the film for Onam this year. The first part – Oru CBI Diary Kuruppu – came out in 1988, the second – Jagratha – in 1989, the third – Sethuramaya Iyer CBI -- in 2004 and the fourth part Nerariyan CBI in 2005. The series had set a standard for investigative thrillers in Malayalam cinema.

Mammootty had played the lead character, investigative officer Sethurama Iyer in all the films.
Sources say that that Mammootty will be appearing as a retired CBI official in CBI 5, while a younger hero may be roped in to play an important role, but there is no official confirmation on the same.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is expecting the release of MaduraRaja this month. The film, directed by Vysakh, is touted to be an action entertainer. The technical crew of the film includes Gopi Sunder for music, Shaji Kumar for cinematography and John Kutty for editing. The rest of the star cast include Siddique, Aju Varghese, Anna Rajan, Anusree, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bala, Bijukuttan and Manikuttan. Sunny Leone is roped in for a special dance sequence.

The film is bankrolled by Nelson Ipe under his banner on a big budget. Madhura Raja will be out at the theatres on April 12th.

Reports are a new film starring Mammootty will be announced on Easter, which will be bankrolled by Goodwill Entertainments. The production house is all set to bankroll three projects this year and Mammootty will be cast in one of the projects.
