The News Minute | November 15, 2014 | 7:35 pm ISTFacebook plans to start penalizing pages that publish marketing posts with words like “Buy this!”, “Install now!” etc from January 2015.A study found that users wanted to see lesser promotional content and Facebook plans to punish the pages by removing the page from the news feed of a majority of the fans who have liked that page.According to a report in Tech Crunch, though done in the name of improving the quality of the News Feed for its users, for years, Facebook has pushed businesses to buy ads that score them likes, so they can reach them for free via News Feed. The marketing messages will stay on the news feed however, if a page’s fans consistently click on the “spammy” posts. For a more detailed understanding of what messages might be blocked, read the full report here.
