Early 20s not an ideal time to get married: Amala Paul on divorce

Written by : TNM

Earlier this year in August, Amala Paul and filmmaker Vijay parted ways after marrying in 2014. The couple were rumoured to have fallen in love while working together in 2011 Vikram-starrer Deiva Thirumagal, and although they denied, they eventually went on to fall in love. While the exact reason for their split still remains a mystery, in an interview to New Indian Express, Amala has opened up on her life post-divorce and why she thinks she got married at the wrong age.

“Early 20s is not an ideal time to exchange vows. I have no complaints or regrets, so I didn't let it break me. I grew out of it slowly and steadily. Even when I am sad, I take that extra effort to keep myself at peace. There are a lot of girls who look up to me and I don't want any woman in an unhappy marriage to feel bad to take a decision,” she said. Asked if she’s on friendly terms with Vijay, she said, “I still love Vijay and he will always be a special person. At times, letting go is love," she added.

On the career front, she has bounced back strongly with two Dhanush projects – Vada Chennai and VIP 2, and she also has a few Telugu projects in the pipeline.
