Duniya Vijay to play an auto-driving Dr Rajkumar fan in R Chandru’s ‘Kanaka’

Duniya Vijay is excited about the role he gets to don in his upcoming film, Kanaka. Vijay plays an autorickshaw driver in the film for the first time, and is happy that director R Chandru cast him in this avatar.

What’s more Vijay’s character in Kanaka is also a die-hard fan of Dr Rajkumar, intent on spreading the ideals espoused by the late Kannada film icon. The storyline of the film is reportedly based on a real life incident.

Manvitha Harish has been roped in to star opposite Vijay in the film, and the search for another woman lead is on, said the director. Chandru, who made his debut in 2008 with Taj Mahal, last directed Lakshmana, a remake of the Telugu film Athanokkade that released last year.

Vijay’s last outing at the theatres was with Masti Gudi, for which he had penned the story. That film was directed by Nagashekar.
