Starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, it is a romantic comedy that garnered positive reviews from film buffs and critics, and this gave rise to speculations over the director’s next.

There have been reports that Sekhar Kammula is keen on directing a sequel to the 2010 hit movie Leader. Starring Rana Daggubati in the lead role, it was a political thriller. While fans are eagerly waiting for news about his next movie, reports suggested that the director was not keen on directing a political film right now. He is contemplating on making a film on the lines of Fidaa, which means we can expect a romantic comedy.

The film will be produced by Dil Raju, who had bankrolled Fidaa and Leader. Reports state that the director is keen on roping in Vijay Devarakonda of Arjun Reddy fame to play the lead role in the upcoming film.

Fidaa, made on a budget of Rs. 13 crore, collected Rs. 90 crore. Written and directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film was produced by Dil Raju under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi had played the lead roles in this movie with Sai Chand, Raja Chembolu, Aryan Talla, Geeta Bhaskar, Saranya Pradeep, Satyam Rajesh, Harshvardhan Rane, appearing in pivotal roles.

With the director deciding to go ahead with a romantic entertainer yet again, his fans have to wait for a political thriller from him. Sekhar Kammula made his debut as director with Dollar Dreams, which was released in English and Telugu in 2000. He then went on to direct films such as Anand, Happy Days, Life is Beautiful, Fidaa etc, which were big hits in his career.
