Filmmaker Gautham Menon is playing a very important role in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Tamil film, Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal, revealed the makers on Tuesday.

Talking to Cinema Express, director Desingh Periyasamy said: “Gautham sir plays one of the five pivotal characters in the film. If you leave out the films where he played himself and Goli Soda where he did a guest role as a cop, this will be his first full-fledged role as an actor.” Apparently, the role was originally written for another actor and when he wasn’t available, Desingh felt the character would suit Gautham Menon. “After my original choice for the role backed out, I didn't want to cast the usual favourites like Samuthirakani or Prakash Raj as I wanted someone fresh.” The film has been produced by Anto Joseph.

This will mark the 25th film of Dulquer, who was last seen in Tamil for the film Solo, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. In Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal, he plays the role of an IT professional.

The film’s shooting, which began in November 2017, was completed recently and the makers are currently busy with the post-production. Ritu Varma of Pellichoopulu fame plays the female lead.

The movie has been predominantly shot in Goa and Delhi. Rumoured to be a road film, it should be noted that Dulquer’s maiden Hindi film Karwaan was also a travel movie in which he worked with actors Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. Dulquer has done road movies in Malayalam too, especially acclaimed among them is Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi.

In Tamil too, an upcoming film called Vaan, in which Dulquer plays the lead, is based on a travel-based script, directed by Karthik. The film will feature three heroines and it has already been revealed that Kriti Kharbhanda and Kalyani Priyadarshan have been signed as two female leads.
