The shooting of Prithviraj’s debut directorial Lucifer commenced a few days ago. While it is progressing at a good pace, there have been some interesting developments that film buffs would be interested to know. Veteran filmmaker Fazil has reportedly been roped in to play an important role in the film.

It has already been confirmed that Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and Prithviraj’s brother Indrajith are part of the film. With Vivek Oberoi inking the deal to star in Lucifer, it will mark his debut in the Malayalam film industry.

Reports say Fazil will play Mohanlal’s godfather in Lucifer. While Prithviraj is making his debut as director with the film, the script has been penned by Murali Gopy. The others in the star cast are Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Saniya Iyappan.

The shooting for the film began on July 18 and will be shot at different locations in Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Kuttikkanam. The technical crew of the film includes Sujith Vasudevan for cinematography and Samjith for editing. The film is bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Films.

It may be mentioned here that Mohanlal’s debut film Manjil Virinja Pookkal was directed by Fazil, which happened to be the latter’s debut directorial as well. The duo then went on to work in films such as Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal, Dhanya, Marakkillorikkalum, Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku, Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, Manichitrathazhu, Harikrishnans Vismayathumbathu, Life is Beautiful and so on, and shared screen space in Nokketha Dhoorathu Kannum Nattu.

Fazil’s last directorial was Living Together, in which he had cast a bunch of newbies. He is an accomplished director having introduced several actors in his long career. Fazil has also won many awards, including National Film Awards and Kerala State Film Awards. In 1993, he won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for Manichitrathazhu.
