The Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster hit Arjun Reddy which was helmed by director Bala starring Vikram's son Dhruv Vikram was scrapped as the makers were unhappy with the first copy provided by Bala's B Studios.

Later, makers decided to reshoot the remake from scratch by retaining Dhruv and music composed by Radhan. Rest of the star cast and crew were discarded. Following this, debutant Girisayya, associate of the director of 'Arjun Reddy' Sandeep Vanga, was roped into helm the film.

With the shooting of the film wrapped up recently, director Bala has reportedly sent a legal notice to actor Vikram. In his notice, Bala has demanded that the team of Adithya Varma to not use even a single scene from the version he has shot.

Adithya Varma is being bankrolled by E4 Entertainment, producers of popular Malayalam films such as Ezra and Godha. October fame Banita Sandhuis is playing the female lead opposite Dhruv and Priya Anand is also playing an important role. Ravi K Chandran is cranking the camera and  Radhan, who composed the tunes originally for Arjun Reddy has been retained as the music director for this version of the remake too.

The Telugu film Arjun Reddy had Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey as the lead pair.  Arjun Reddy, one of the biggest hits in the Telugu film industry in 2017, was made on a budget of Rs 5 crore but it went on to rake in Rs 65 crore at the box office. Following the film’s massive success, its remake rights in different languages were sold like hotcakes.

The Hindi version of Arjun Reddy, titled Kabir Singh, is scheduled for release on June 21 and looks like Adithya Varma might hit the screens this July. The Hindi version has Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani as the lead pair reprising the role done by Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the original.
