‘Darbar’ motion poster out: Stylish Rajini slashes villains in cop avatar

Written by : Anjana Shekar

Rajinikanth’s Darbar motion poster is here! The film’s team had top personalities unveil the motion poster on Thursday. Actor Kamal Haasan, who is celebrating his 65th birthday, took time to share the Tamil poster while the Telugu motion poster was shared by actor Mahesh Babu, both on their social media profiles. Actor Mohanlal unveiled the Malayalam motion poster and actor Salman Khan the Hindi version.

The explosive motion poster set to scintillating music shows khakhi-clad legs stepping on glass, shattering it with each step taken. As the glass shards move away Rajinikanth’s name in the film, Aaditya Arunasalam, makes an appearance in the form of a badge pinned to his police uniform. He runs a blood-stained sword through some villains and the final shot shows him seated casually on a swivel chair, the long sword in one hand. Rajinikanth could easily pass off for a 40-year-old from these visuals. His trim figure is clad in a khakhi uniform, brown boots and a brown coat. With his trademark smile and the chorus of ‘Thalaiva’ in the background, the film looks like it could be a treat for his fans.

Darbar, starring the Superstar and Nayanthara in the lead, is one of the most followed projects of 2019. The film’s title and first look were released in April this year and the film is expected to release for Pongal next year.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Darbar marks his first time collaboration with Rajinikanth. The film also has Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Yogi Babu, Jeeva, Prakash Raj, Nivetha Thomas, Dalip Tahil, Soori, Harish Uthaman, Manobala, Suman, Anandaraj, Rao Ramesh and Bose Venkat in the cast. Darbar is produced by Lyca Productions.

Suniel Shetty and Prateik Babbar play the antagonists and it is believed that Prateik will play Suniel’s brother in the film. Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh has also been roped in and according to sources, Yograj will be playing a very important role in the film.

Anirudh Ravichander has been signed to compose the music, Santosh Sivan is handling the cinematography and Sreekar Prasad will take care of the editing.

The second look poster from Darbar was released in September and showed Rajinikanth holding on to an iron rod with all his might. The poster created great anticipation among fans.

Rajinikanth’s next after Darbar will be under the Sun Pictures banner with director Siva helming the project. The project has been currently dubbed Thalaivar 168.
