The buzz is building for the upcoming big-budget Sandalwood extravaganza, Kurukshetra. Adding to the excitement is the fact that the film is actor Darshan’s landmark 50th movie. As fans eagerly await the news of the various people roped in to the project, the latest news is that noted music composer V Harikrishna will be composing the score for the film.

Elated over bagging the offer, the music director has expressed confidence about composing the background score and the songs for Kurukshetra, since he has had prior experience with period films with the background score for Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna.

Harikrishna told The New Indian Express, “This is a story and these are characters we have grown up with. We have been told about them and watched them on TV. These are legends... Krishna, Duryodhana, Arjuna, Karna Bheema, so I am extremely happy to be creating music for such a film. This is also a milestone film for Darshan, and this adds to my excitement... this is, in all, a landmark film.”

Having finished composing tunes for two songs already, Harikrishna said that he is confident of coming up with his best work so far, as the entire team is helping him. He said, “I have lyricist Nagendra Prasad, writer JK Bharavi and director Naganna. They are helping me with their ideas because everyone is drawn to this epic.”

The film will be launched on July 23 to coincide with producer Muni Ratna’s birthday, we hear. It has Darshan playing Duryodhana and V Ravichandran as Krishna.
