Chiranjeevi averts box office clash between son-in-law and nephew’s films

The box office clash between the members of the mega family has been averted; thanks to mega star Chiranjeevi’s intervention.

The star’s son-in-law Kalyan Dev will be making his debut as an actor with Vijetha and the film was slated for release on July 15.

Coincidentally, Sai Dharam Tej’s, Tej, I Love You, directed by A Kaunakaran, was also scheduled for release on the same date. This meant a clash at the box office between Chiru’s nephew and son-in-law. In order to avert this situation, the mega star appealed to Vijetha’s producer Sai Korrapati to shift the release date of his film and eventually the date was preponed to July 12th.

Speaking at the audio launch of Vijetha, Chiranjeevi has been quoted by the Deccan Chronicle as saying, “There is a bit of tension that my son-in-law’s film and Sai Dharam Tej’s film is releasing on the same date. But now, producer Sai Korrapati has decided to avoid the clash and is releasing the film on July 12. So I am happy that there is no competition between the two actors from my family.”

Incidentally, Vijetha was the title of one of Chiranjeevi’s hit movies. Recalling about working in the film, he said, “When I was doing mostly action-oriented films, Allu Aravind came to me with this family subject Vijetha and we were doubtful if my fans would like it or not. But the film went on to become a big hit,” he recalls.

Vijetha, directed by Rakesh Sashi, is touted to be a complete family drama. The film is bankrolled by Sai Korrapati under his banner Varahi Chala Chitram. KK Senthil Kumar has cranked the camera for this venture with Karthika Srinivas as the editor. Harshavardhan Rameshwar has composed music for this venture.
