Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan to make Malayalam debut in Mohanlal’s ‘Big Brother’

Bollywood actor and producer Arbaaz Khan is all set to make his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the Mohanlal starrer Big Brother. Arbaaz was in Kerala for this and was welcomed by Mohanlal and the film’s director, Siddique. Posting a pic with Arbaaz Khan, Mohanlal wrote on his social networking page, “It’s a pleasure to welcome @BeingSalmanKhan’s brother @arbaazSkhan, to be a part of my upcoming movie #BigBrother , directed by Siddique.”

Sharing the moment  Arbaaz Khan took it to Twitter and shared, "Super excited about working with the Legend Mohanlal sir and ace director Siddique sir. It’s my debut in the Malayalam film industry with a film called “Big Brother”. So looking forward to the shoot in July.”

Reports are that Arbaaz Khan will be seen as an enforcement officer named Vedantham IPS. The shooting of this film will commence on June 25 this year. In an interview to the Times of India, the film’s director had told, “I have known Arbaaz since I had worked with his brother in Bollywood. We have kept in touch since and when I discussed the idea of the character with him, he was happy to come onboard as it will give him a chance to work in the South film industry and share screen space with Mohanlal.”

It may be noted here that Mohanlal had just completed shooting for the magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan. Made on a budget of Rs 100 crores, this film is produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment.

The film is based on the true life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, who is the most popular of the Marakkars. It will have extensive sea warfare sequences as its highlight. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair. 

The star is currently busy with the shooting of Ittimani: Made in China, which is directed by Jibi and Joju. The venture will be bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
