Balakrishna’s ‘Jai Simha’ emerges victorious in Sankranti box office clash

Written by : Digital Native

One of the biggest box office battles in the Telugu film industry happens during the Sankranti. As like all the previous years, this year too, two biggies clashed at the box office. Let’s check out which one of it has emerged successful. Balakrishna’s Jai Simha and Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi hit the marquee for Sankranti amidst a lot of expectations and according to trade reports, Balayya has emerged victorious.

While the Power Star’s Agnyaathavaasi saw a grand opening both in India and overseas, its collections in the subsequent days began to dwindle. The producers of the film have entered into a Non Recovery Agreement with the distributors and exhibitors, which means that the producers are safe and the distributors and exhibitors will have to incur the losses. According to trade reports, Dil Raju, who procured the Nizam area rights for Rs. 27 crores has been able to recover just about Rs. 10 crores and all other distributors and exhibitors have also incurred heavy losses.

On the other hand, Jai Simha took a good opening and the producers are happy over its collections. What makes the producers happy is that they did not sell the distribution rights of the film in several areas and this worked out in their favour.

Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi was directed by Trivikram Srinivas and the duo had teamed up for the third time after the massive success of Jalsa and Attarintiki Dared. The film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Keerthy Suresh and Anu Emmanuel as the female leads with Aadhi Pinisetty and Boman Irani in important roles.

N Balakrishna and director KS Ravi Kumar joined hands for the first time and they have managed to come out with a box office success. Jai Simha has Nayanthara playing the female lead with Hari Priya in an important role.
