Over the last week or two, Tollywood has been buzzing about “Pelli Choopulu”, a low-budget indie romantic comedy. It seems the film has won over just about everybody, including filmmaker SS Rajamouli.

Directed by debutant Tharun Bhascker, the film has been the talk of the town since its release last week, and has even been called the best Telugu film of the decade by some.

After watching the film in a special preview, Rajamouli wrote on his Facebook page: “Enjoyed Pellichoopulu movie so much. Still in the same mood, remembering all the beautiful moments from the film. Writing, direction, performances, everything about the film is so engaging. Well done Tharun Bhaskar. That was a great first effort. Both Hero and Heroine are so refreshing to watch. And the friend is so, so good. He gave a great line for every guy who is faced with the difficult question of what do you do??  Congrats to the whole team and thanks for giving us a great fun Sunday. I just wish it was playing in more screens. It really should.”

Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma, “Pelli Choopulu” is set for a wider release across the country on Friday, August 5.
