‘Arjun Reddy’ Kannada remake to star Yash?

Telugu film Arjun Reddy has turned out to be one of the biggest hits and naturally this has created huge competition for its remake rights. While there are reports that Tollywood star Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films has obtained the Tamil remake rights of this film, the latest is that Kannada producer Rockline Venkatesh is in talks to procure the Kannada rights. Sources say that the producer is keen on casting Sandalwood star Yash to play the lead role done by Vijay Devarakonda. With the talks on, a confirmation on this is expected to be out soon.

Arjun Reddy, coming of age dark comedy drama, attained cult hit status with the film doing well at the box office. Written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film has been produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga under the banner Bhadrakali Pictures on a budget of Rs. 5 crores. The film went on to collect over Rs. 50 crores at the box office till date.

According to trade analysts, the film has grossed Rs 10.75 crores at the US box office alone at the end of the third week. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted: “Telugu film #ArjunReddy continues to SHINE in USA [Week 3] Fri $ 25,484, Sat $ 44,870, Sun $ 22,016. Total: $ 1,681,996 [₹ 10.75 cr]@Rentrak.”

Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey as the lead pair, the film has Kanchana, Rahul Ramakrishna, Sanjay Swaroop, Kamal Kamaraju, Gopinath Bhat, Jia Sharma, Amit Sharma, and Priyadarshi Pullikonda in the star cast. The film has been shot extensively in various locations including Italy, Germany, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Dehradun.

Radhan has composed music for Arjun Reddy with Raju Thota wielding the camera and Shashank editing it.
