AR Rahman updates his 'Take it easy policy' song with crowdsourced suggestions

Written by : TNM Staff

In December last year, Academy Award winning composer AR Rahman had asked his fans to help him update the lyrics of Take it easy, Uvrasi

The song, from the 1994 Shankar film Kadhalan, was a huge hit among young people in the ‘90s. Rahman had put up a Facebook post asking social media users to come up with new lines for the song. There were many enthusiastic responses ranging from not getting signal on your new Jio SIM to the neighbourhood aunty asking you when you'll get married.

And now the maestro has picked his top 4.

The lines he's selected are:

"Beltu Potoom Veshti Avundha" (If you wear a belt and your veshti falls)

"Helmet Potoom Mama Pidicha" (If you wear a helmet and the cop catches you)

"Kadalai Naduvil Battery Thirndal" (If your battery gets over when you are flirting)

"Kizhinja Panta Fashion Nu Sonna" (If torn pants are said to be fashion)

While those whose lines got selected are over the moon, one of the "winners", Rajesh Rajamani has pointed out that AR Rahman had misspelt his name as "Rajesh Rajamouli". But well, his response to that is, "When Rahman chooses your line, but your name gets misspelt, take it easy policy."
