Anushka Shetty takes on a new avatar for Nagarjuna-starrer ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’

Tollywood actor Anushka Shetty will be seen in a new avatar in the much-awaited devotional film “Om Namo Venkatesaya”.

Directed by K Raghavendra Rao, the film is based on the life of Baba Hathi Ram, a devotee of Venkateshwara. Nagarjuna Akkineni is playing the lead in the film.

On Saturday, Raghavendra tweeted the first image of Anushka’s look in the film.

It had earlier been reported that Anushka is playing the role of a devotee of Balaji in “Om Namo Venkatesaya”, and would be crucial to the development of the plot. In his tweet, Raghavendra also revealed that her character is called Krishnamma.

Anushka also shared the directed’s tweet, writing that she feels privileged to work with the legendary director.

With hits like “Arundathi” and “Rudrama Devi” under her belt, Anushka has earlier worked with Nagarjuna in films like “Super”, “Don”, “Ragada” and “Damarukam”.

“Om Namo Venkatesaya” is being produced by A Mahesh Reddy under the Sai Krupa Entertainments banner and is scheduled for release in 2017.
