Bollywood star Salman Khan’s Dabanng 3, which also features Kannada star Sudeep, is all set for release on December 20 and the Kannada dubbed version is being released the same day too.
An interesting fact about the Kannada dubbed version is that director Anup Bhandari has penned the lyrics for all the songs. On turning lyricist for the film, Anup Bhandari told Indian Express in an interview, “When I was taken on board for Dabangg 3, they expected high standards. They are treating Dabangg 3 as another Kannada film,” adding, “I was asked by producer Jack Manju whether I could write one song for Dabangg 3, and I wrote it. The moment Sudeep heard it, he wanted me to write all the six songs. That’s how it started, and I had a lot of fun writing them.”
Anup Bhandari said that he did not do a word-to-word translation of the lyrics from Hindi but took in the essence of each song and then penned it in Kannada. The director-turned-lyricist added, “In fact, music directors Sajid-Wajid, who have heard a few tracks felt that the Kannada album sounds different from the rest of the languages, and that’s a compliment. I am happy to start as an independent lyricist in a film that stars Salman Khan and Kichcha Sudeep. I couldn’t have asked for more.”
Dabangg 3 is an action film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan under their respective banners of Salman Khan Films and Arbaaz Khan Productions. The film features Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead with Arbaaz Khan, Mahie Gill and Sudeep in the supporting cast. It is written by Dilip Shukla, Prabhu Deva and Alok Upadhyay. While Sajid-Wajid have composed the tunes for the songs, Sandeep Shirodkar has set the background score. Mahesh Limaye is the cinematographer for this venture.
