Ajith’s next to be directed by Shankar?

Written by : TNM

There were reports doing the rounds several months ago that director Shankar and Ajith may team up for a sequel to Mudhalvan. However, the project failed to materialise with both of them getting busy with their respective projects.

With Ajith’s Vivegam hitting the silver screens last month, he went on a break to undergo a shoulder surgery that he had been putting off for a long time to honour his acting commitments. The star has reportedly undergone the surgery now and will recuperate for the next three months. Reports suggest that Ajith’s next will go on the floors early next year. And this has raised speculations that Shankar may direct him for the first time. However, there is no official word on this as the director is busy with his upcoming release, the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0.

On the other hand, reports suggest that Siva, who had directed Ajith in Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam, may go on to direct his next as well. It is reported that the director has a script ready but Ajith is yet to take his call. It is said director AM Rathnam may fund the Ajith – Shankar project if it materialises. And if Ajith decides to team up with Siva again, the project may be bankrolled by Satya Jyothi Films which had produced Vivegam. Well, for the official news to be out, fans will have to wait for a couple of months.

It is worth mentioning that Mudhalvan, directed by Shankar, was one of the biggest hits in his career. The film has Arjun Sarja and Manisha Koirala playing the lead pair. The political thriller was written, directed and produced by S Shankar under his banner S Pictures. The dialogues were written by noted writer Sujatha.
