Kamal Haasan’s long delayed Indian 2, which marks his second collaboration with filmmaker Shankar, will finally go on the floors from August. While it has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal will be playing the leading lady in this mega budget venture, if sources are anything to go by, the latest update is that actor Aishwarya Rajesh has been roped in for a crucial role.

Last seen playing a cricketer from a small village in Kanaa this will be the first time Aishwarya will share screen space with Kamal Haasan. Meanwhile, the makers are yet to reveal the complete cast and crew details. However, it is also believed that Siddharth, who had worked with Shankar in Boys, has been roped in for a crucial role and he will be seen playing the role of a cop.

Having teased fans with the first poster of the film on the occasion of Pongal earlier this year, the makers are now geared up to complete shooting the project as planned within the next six months.

The first poster featured Kamal Haasan displaying his ‘varma-kalai’ skill as the octogenarian vigilante Senapathy from Indian. The poster, which was released sans any hullabaloo, was received very well and was trending on social media in no time. The regular shooting began on January 18 in Hyderabad but the makers briefly shot for a week and stopped for reasons unknown.

There are also rumours doing the rounds is that Abhishek Bachchan has been signed to play the negative role in the film, which will be simultaneously released in Hindi. Apparently, the role was originally supposed to be played by Akshay Kumar but after he opted out of the project owing to other commitments, Shankar is said to have approached Abhishek Bachchan, who would making his southern debut via the project if he comes on board. The film, being produced by Lyca Productions, has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
