Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday interacted with handpicked social media users at his official residence in New Delhi and asked to them to stay positive on social media sites like Twitter and not succumb to abusive language. According to a report in OpIndia, an informal interaction between prominent social media users and the Prime Minister himself was hosted by MyGov, a Government of India platform platform on social media that connects to citizens. After personally greeting everyone, he stressed on the importance of his supporters speaking about “positive things in a positive manner,” especially with respect to social media, the report adds. “If all the abuses I receive are printed on a paper, entire premises of Taj Mahal will be covered”, he was quoted as saying, while adding that he hasn’t blocked anyone on twitter despite this. He also added that the power of technology and social media has forced main stream media to change its agenda and it was this power of social media that demanded a responsible behaviour. A social media user who was at the meeting told The News Minute that "The Prime Minister also said that abuses will finish relevance of social media and that message was for everyone not just BJP members." The meet which lasted from 12 pm to 1 30 pm saw all the invitees travelling to the Indira Gandhi stadium afterwards for the official launch of Digital India week that took place yesterday.
