Abhishek Ambareesh’s debut film, Amar, hit the marquee on May 31 amidst a lot of expectations, but has received a mixed response from critics and movie buffs. Despite some very negative remarks about the film, Abhishek remains confident and impervious.

In a recent media interaction, that actor said, “I do not get affected by these reviews. When we make films, there will be people who will not like it. As a performer, my job is to entertain maximum number of people and I think I have been successful in that as Amar has collected a good amount all over Karnataka. Yash called me after the film’s release and asked me not to focus on the mixed reviews. He told me that even his magnum opus KGF was criticised by a few. If KGF, which broke each and every record in the history of Kannada cinema can be criticised, then it doesn’t mean anything if our film is criticised.”

Directed by Nagashekar, Amar was bankrolled under the Sandesh Productions banner. Amar’s technical crew comprised Arjun Janya for composing music, Satya Hegde to crank the camera and Sania Sardhariya to design the costumes. Abhishek and Tanya Hope, who starred as the female lead, play bikers in this film. A major portion of the film was shot in picturesque locations in Switzerland, providing a visual treat for the audiences. Darshan played a small role in the film, which has turned out to be a major attraction. There is also a song in the film that features Darshan.

Abhishek is gearing up for his next, which will reportedly be directed by Mahesh Rao of Santhu Straight Forward fame. Though Santhu Straight Forward was released in 2016, the director did not come up with his next film until now. The new project is expected to go on the floors soon.
