The News Minute | April 1, 2014 | 12.30 pm ISTNoted Malayalam writer and activist V M Girija has criticized National Film Award jury for selecting Uthara Unnikrishnan as the best singer. In an article that she wrote in Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi, Girija says that Uthara’s song in the movie "Shaivam", did not even deserve a state award.“The way she sung the song was neither unique nor attractive,” she accused in the article. She also claimed that the decision to award Uthara cannot be accepted or appreciated as the song was not of high standard. She has also warned that this decision was inappropriate and dangerous as the song has only a school-level standard.“Why can’t Unnikrishnan say that his daughter’s song was not the best,” she asks. She also questions the jury “Why such an immature decision? Do you think the people here don’t have ears?” Tweet Follow @thenewsminute
